After every federal election candidates who receive more than 4% of the vote are provided funding from the Australian government. Unlike the federal MP Chris Bowen’s Labor Party, who received $150,802 and kept it, Matt is giving the money back to the local community, after all, it’s your money.
After a federal election, candidates who get at least 4% of the vote are provided funding back from the Australian government. Most people probably wouldn’t have heard of this because the major political parties and candidates keep it for themselves.
Matthew wants to ensure that the taxpayer money he was given by the government is handed back to the community. That’s why he has opened applications for a $32,000 community grants program.
Matthew knows people are struggling to get by right now, especially in this fuel crisis. As part of the grant giveaway, he is also providing subsidised fuel to the local community. The price will be set at 78c a litre, which was the price in early 2000 when Australia refined its own fuel.
If you know someone who is doing it tough and lives in the local area, please bring them along.
